GivingTuesday 2024: Gravyty-powered organizations raised $13.4 million, exceeding 2023 donation dollars by over 16%

Nothing is more powerful than a community that rallies together for a shared purpose. Case in point was 2024’s GivingTuesday, which generated a record-breaking $3.6 billion in donations in the US alone. Even more impressive, the record donations represent a 16% increase over 2023 amidst ongoing societal challenges and economic uncertainty.

Asha Curran, GivingTuesday’s Chief Executive Officer, summed up the success of the day:

“In a world that can feel increasingly divided, we’re seeing people unite through simple acts of kindness that have profound ripple effects.”

How did these inspiring organizations achieve such incredible results? Here’s a spotlight on a few of our partners’ GivingTuesday campaigns.

Boston College High School exceeded their donor goal by over 24%

With a goal of 600 donors on GivingTuesday, Boston College High School, a private, Jesuit, Catholic school for boys in grades 7-12 in Boston, MA, exceeded that number by almost 25%, inspiring 747 donors to give generously to their GivingTuesday campaign. Ultimately, the advancement team raised over $234,000 – an increase of 43% over their 2023 campaign!

A few key elements of their campaign helped drive these outcomes:

  • Integrated video messaging – to maximize their reach through multiple channels and personalized asks.
  • Community outreach – They targeted all members of their community for Giving Tuesday.
  • Friendly competition – Leveraged multiple matching challenges focusing on driving participation for specific decades, alumni, and current parents. Some matches unlocked dollars, others class prizes.
  • Gamification In addition to Matching Tiles, they also used Alumni Class Year class and Current Parent Class year leaderboards along with heatmap and donor wall.
  • Expanding areas of support – Instead of offering one area of support, this GivingTuesday they offered six areas a donor could support including Areas of Greatest Need, Arts, Athletics, Global Education, Faith and Justice, and Financial Aid.

University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources “thrilled” about their giving day results

UC Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources, which includes a network of local Cooperative Extension sites, seventeen statewide programs and institutes, and nine research and extension centers, made a strong impact with their GivingTuesday campaign.

“Launching a new giving platform just in time for a global 24-hour giving day was a daunting undertaking, especially for an organization with a fund structure as complex as ours. However, our Gravyty success partner led us through each decision as we custom built our platform, and was patient and responsive with every step. We look forward to adding even more robust features for our next campaign!”
